The Heritage Lottery Fund

In December 2012 the parish of Barrow on Trent obtained a National Lottery Heritage grant to explore the oral history of the village, to digitise the information, and to make it generally available.

At an earlier meeting of the steering committee it became apparent that there was considerable interest in the history of the village and the project was enlarged to cover a more exhaustive history of the village using information already at hand, the oral history project, and to encourage further research.

The blog is a WordPress blog – intended to represent work in progress during the project and also to be used as a basis for a nested blog at the University of Nottingham at a later date.

The blog is hosted on the server of one of the Project Team members

It became apparent quite early that considerable storage might be required and storage was set up using local storage and Cloud storage using a commercial provider  MediaFire   – while still encouraging individuals to maintain their own storage ( and backup ) and for the project itself to maintain multiple backups.
